School starts next week, but there's still one more weekend to get out those flippy-floppies and sunscreen.

Crews will move to a new part of the road and flip the direction of traffic the week of Aug. 20.
Construction crews will change the direction of traffic on Green Road when they switch to work on a new portion of the road next week. Traffic will reopen in both directions on Green Road between Fairmount Boulevard and S. Woodland Road in Shaker Heights. 50-year residents were recognized Tuesday for living in Beachwood for 50 years at the 50-Year Resident Salute.
More than a dozen residents were recognized at the Beachwood 50-Year Resident Salute Tuesday night. The salute was part of the final night of the Summer Evening Concert Series at the Beachwood Community Center. The residents were given Beachwood blankets and framed certificates. Construction is winding down on Beachwood thoroughfare.
Drivers in Beachwood can look for some relief from orange barrels this week. Construction on Richmond Road is winding down and Staff Engineer Tom Kreczko said he hopes to have all lanes open by Friday. MAP: Three Major Road Construction Projects Slated for 2012 This also means that Fairmount Boulevard will be open at Richmond Road again. Two of the road’s four lanes between Hendon Road and Fairmount Boulevard, extending through the intersection at Fairmount to the Fire Station 1 driveway, have been closed since early June while crews resurface. Rock, roots and zydeco band will be at tonight's free Beachwood Summer Evening Concert Series at the Family Aquatic Center.
Tonight's Beachwood Summer Evening Concert Series will feature Cats on Holiday, a local rock, roots and zydeco band. The concert starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Beachwood Family Aquatic Center. It's free and open to the public. Click the video above for a preview of the band.

H3N2 flu virus reported in Ohio last week; all swine events at Cuyahoga County Fair are cancelled "out of an abundance of caution," Board of Health writes.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Health* has cancelled all swine events at this week's fair because of a surge in swine flu incidents, they wrote in a Patch blog today. Nearly 29 cases of swine flu have been reported this year, including 12 in Ohio, the Huffington Post reports. Two pigs were sent home from the Ohio State Fair last week, and the Cuyahoga County Board of Health wrote that they are working closely with veterinarians to monitor the animals at the fair. The CDC has issued a warning about the possible spread of swine flu at county fairs. The Huffington Post reports that this strain, called H3N2, is similar to the 2009 strain because it spreads more easily to humans, but reported cases have not been very serious. Read the full …

Police free trapped feline Sunday, July 22, 8:38 p.m. — A Halburton Road resident reported that her cat had gotten trapped in her neighbor’s garage, and the neighbors were on vacation. Police helped her get into the garage to free the cat but noted that a glass pane was damaged. Trailer, tools valued at $9,500 stolen Tuesday, July 24, 2:25 p.m. — A man reported that a trailer and tools was stolen from the Clarion Hotel. Children's museum offers little ones a chance to learn about and play some Olympic games.
Children got moving and made a new furry friend Saturday at the Children’s Museum of Art. Part of the museum’s Teddy Bear Clinic was designed to introduce children to the Olympics. The event was one of more than 1,000 local meetups selected by Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move fitness initiative that partnered with Patch to highlight Olympic sports Saturday, Olympic Fun Meetup Day. About 24 children, bears and 15 watchful adults paraded around the museum behind a colored paper torch. They watched snippets of the opening ceremony and highlights of some of the games that will be played in London over the next few weeks.
