Two Beachwood Students Named U.S. Presidential Scholar Candidates
Students from Beachwood High School, Hawken School make the prestigious list
Two students from Beachwood have been awarded one of the highest honors in the country for graduating high school seniors. Russell M. Cohen, a Beachwood resident who attends Hawken School, and Graham S. Gobieski, who attends Beachwood High School, were named Presidential Scholar candidates for 2013. The five students were picked from a pool of thousands of students across the U.S. named as candidates in the annual Presidential Scholars Program, one of the nation's highest honors for graduating seniors. Application to the program is by invite only, and based on ACT and SAT scores. In the end, mo more than 141 will be selected as scholars by a commission appointed by President Barack Obama. The students should learn if they are chosen in May.
