Your teens are holding a car wash at the high school Saturday. The grandparents volunteered to take the younger children to a movie Sunday afternoon. Your tweens take tap on Wednesday evening.  It’s your time. Take it. Each week, we’ll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier. Cornhole is not just for summer barbecues. Get a jump-start on the warm-weather pastime this Saturday with HoleMania presented by the American Cornhole Organization and Northeast Ohio Cornhole. Anyone is welcome to play in social tournaments – for cash prizes – or qualifiers. Registration starts at $10 per person.

Update: Flood Warning Extended for Cuyahoga County

National Weather Service: Flood warning due to melting snow and rain extended to 9 p.m.

Updated 12:10 p.m. Monday: The National Weather Service has extended a flood warning for Cuyahoga County from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.  According to the NWS, lowland flooding has been reported across the area and streams and rivers are high due to the rain – up to 2 inches in some areas – we got overnight. Water pooling on roads has also been reported. The NWS recommends that drivers take extra care and look for dips or standing water in the road. Rain has stopped for the area and no more precipitation is expected until at least Friday. Temperatures will rise to the upper 40s today and highs this week will slowly dip, falling to the mid-30s by Friday. For more weather information, visit Weather Bug.

Nearly a Foot of Snow Possible

After brief winter reprieve, heavy snow to return to area

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for much of northern Ohio, calling for up to a foot of snow in some areas. The warning will be in effect from 9 tonight through 4 p.m Friday. According to the weather service, a strong low-pressure system will move from Cincinnati toward Youngstown tonight, with rain, sleet and eventually snow and heavy winds. The heaviest accumulation is expected between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m. Friday.  By Friday afternoon, we're expected to see snow accumulation of six to 10 inches, with some areas getting up to a foot. Winds are expected to pick up Friday, with gusts expected up to 35 mph. Check back for updates as the storm progresses.
