City Awaits Beachwood Place Expansion Plan

Beachwood's economic development director doesn't want to miss out on tenants, but needs a plan from the mall

Beachwood officials heard a statement earlier this month that they hope will not be repeated in the future. Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects said that the city had already missed out on four retailers "you would have loved to have had here" at a work session regarding an expansion plan for Beachwood Place Mall. Beachwood Economic Development Director Jim Doutt said he was disappointed to hear that, but the city still awaits an expansion plan from the mall's parent company, General Growth Properties in Chicago. Heller encouraged the city to make zoning modifications for a 5.6-acre section of Richmond Road now owned by GGP, though the company had no plan to present. "There's nothing that's been proposed, that's the bottom line," …

One Red Door Photography is one of four companies in Greater Cleveland certified by Google to provide businesses with virtual tours

As restaurants and retailers in the region decided to provide virtual tours to their website viewers, one Shaker Heights company got in on the action early. The virtual galleries are often embedded on the websites of businesses who use their decor or atmosphere as a selling point. How Should Beachwood Place Expand?

Tell us what you hope to see added to the mall

The parent company of Beachwood Place Mall is eyeing an expansion, though details remain undefined. A Cleveland architect met with city officials this week to discuss zoning modifications needed to make the expansion a reality. Standalone restaurants and banks were among the possibilities discussed. Speaking on behalf of General Growth Properties, Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects gave no timeline for a new project at the mall, but he made it clear that the firm wants to implement tenants that would attract additional shoppers and tax dollars. While the private and public partners iron out the possibilities, we'd like to hear from you. What would you like to see added to Beachwood Place? Let us know in the comments section below.

Dino Palmieri Opens Third Beachwood Area Salon

Its third location is inside Eton Collection

Though Dino Palmieri Salon has eight locations across Northeast Ohio — including three in or near Beachwood — the manager of the newest site says there are several elements to differentiate it. "We are the state-of-the-art Dino's," said Angela Presti, manager of the location at Eton Collection on Chagrin Boulevard. "We have stuff the nobody else has." The addition of massage chairs and "Dino's Dry Bar" makes Presti comfortable with that assertion. It's a section in the middle of the salon with tall mirrors, ready to service customers who are short on time. None of the salon's other locations have the dry bar. "Blowouts are really popular these days," she said. "I think people are just busy, especially women in this area. They have a lot of…

Microsoft has not specified how long into the new year the stores will remain. Also, some stores could permanent fixture, but it remains unclear if Beachwood is one of them.
