The center is among the items on the Planning and Zoning Commission's agenda tonight
Beachwood could soon be the home to a special Alzheimer's memory care center. The city's Planning and Zoning Commission will hear more about JEA Senior Living Inc.'s plans for the center to be located on Harvard Road. Carl Sanders, director of development for Vancouver, Wash.-based JEA, will request preliminary site plan approval. Equity Planning, the firm that owns the building at 3355 Richmond Road, will request site approval for a change in the rear entry door for Salon Lofts, a company that is expanding throughout Northeast Ohio. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at Beachwood City Hall.

Beachwood's economic development director doesn't want to miss out on tenants, but needs a plan from the mall
Beachwood officials heard a statement earlier this month that they hope will not be repeated in the future. Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects said that the city had already missed out on four retailers "you would have loved to have had here" at a work session regarding an expansion plan for Beachwood Place Mall. Beachwood Economic Development Director Jim Doutt said he was disappointed to hear that, but the city still awaits an expansion plan from the mall's parent company, General Growth Properties in Chicago. Heller encouraged the city to make zoning modifications for a 5.6-acre section of Richmond Road now owned by GGP, though the company had no plan to present. "There's nothing that's been proposed, that's the bottom line," …

One Red Door Photography is one of four companies in Greater Cleveland certified by Google to provide businesses with virtual tours
As restaurants and retailers in the region decided to provide virtual tours to their website viewers, one Shaker Heights company got in on the action early. One Red Door Photography is one of four companies in the Cleveland area certified by Google to take "See Inside" photos for listings on the massive search engine. Owners Dustin Lopez and Melissa Paderewski were the first in the region to contact and gain approval from Google for the program in February 2012. The virtual galleries are often embedded on the websites of businesses who use their decor or atmosphere as a selling point. One Red Door has been hired by Yours Truly Restaurant and Red steakhouse in Beachwood to take the photos and leverage the Google technology for their sites. …

Tell us what you hope to see added to the mall
The parent company of Beachwood Place Mall is eyeing an expansion, though details remain undefined. A Cleveland architect met with city officials this week to discuss zoning modifications needed to make the expansion a reality. Standalone restaurants and banks were among the possibilities discussed. Speaking on behalf of General Growth Properties, Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects gave no timeline for a new project at the mall, but he made it clear that the firm wants to implement tenants that would attract additional shoppers and tax dollars. While the private and public partners iron out the possibilities, we'd like to hear from you. What would you like to see added to Beachwood Place? Let us know in the comments section below.

Its third location is inside Eton Collection
Though Dino Palmieri Salon has eight locations across Northeast Ohio — including three in or near Beachwood — the manager of the newest site says there are several elements to differentiate it. "We are the state-of-the-art Dino's," said Angela Presti, manager of the location at Eton Collection on Chagrin Boulevard. "We have stuff the nobody else has." The addition of massage chairs and "Dino's Dry Bar" makes Presti comfortable with that assertion. It's a section in the middle of the salon with tall mirrors, ready to service customers who are short on time. None of the salon's other locations have the dry bar. "Blowouts are really popular these days," she said. "I think people are just busy, especially women in this area. They have a lot of…

One Wish LLC, the parent company of four e-commerce sites, ranks No. 26 on the list of Northeast Ohio's Fastest Growing Companies
In the '90s, One Wish began as a Cleveland-area jazz band. Now, it's also the name of one of Northeast Ohio's fastest growing companies. Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead 100 ranked the Beachwood firm No. 26 on its annual list of emerging companies in the region. One Wish is the parent company of four e-commerce websites — Audimute Acoustic Panels, Audimute Soundproofing, Medic Batteries and Retrofit LED Lights. President Mitch Zlotnik's team of 25 employees operates One Wish's websites, produces its products and ships them from the company's offices at 23495 Mercantile Road, Suite H. The orders of acoustic sound panels, batteries and soundproofing kept the employees busy — and profitable — in 2012. According to the Weatherhead…

The mall location and others have been so successful that the corporation wants to keep them open into the new year
Beachwood Place Mall shoppers should get used to the bright store with all the gadgets. Microsoft has announced that is extending its retail stores, including the Beachwood Place location, into 2013. There are 34 such stores in the U.S. and Canada. The company initially said the stores would be around just for the holidays. Microsoft has not specified how long into the new year the stores will remain. Also, some stores could permanent fixture, but it remains unclear if Beachwood is one of them. The stores opened on Oct. 26, around the same time the corporation released its Surface tablet. "We deliberately chose high-traffic malls and locales like Beachwood Place to bring an assortment of Microsoft best-in-class products and a premium …

The Susan Cone Porges Art Studio has been at 23495 Mercantile Road Unit O since this summer.
