And, though the tickets to the free concert were limited, some fans shared the wealth by recording her performance and posting videos online. So thank YouTube users abbowitz and KBCXLOVE90 for their recordings of "Don't Rush" and "People Like Us," respectively. In addition to the Clarkson concert, Microsoft also celebrated its store opening by giving a $1 million grant to the local chapter of Junior Achievement and $250,000 grants to the local chapters of the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Hundreds of Kelly Clarkson fans stood in line at the Beachwood Place Mall Microsoft Store opening Saturday for a chance to meet the singer. The store gave away tickets to a free concert Saturday night to the first 1,000 people in line to the store's grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. Beachwood Mayor Merle Gorden attended the ribbon cutting and read a proclamation. The company also gave a $1 million grant to the local chapter of Junior Achievement and $250,000 grants to the local chapters of the YMCA and the Boys and Girls Club of America.

See's Candies Brings Original Recipes, Original Charm to Beachwood Place Mall

Chocolate shop boasts 1921 recipes and no added preservatives

Beachwood Place Mall is offering new sugar fix for that mid-shopping slump. See's Candies, founded by Mary See in Los Angeles in 1921, opens today at 9:30 a.m. near the food court. The confection shop boasts that it uses the same recipes — and the same black and white checker floor tile — that Mary See used in her kitchen when she and her son founded the first shop. The candy has no high fructose corn syrup, wax or added preservatives, and the store's area manager Kristi Jean promised the freshest ingredients in each peice. Kelly Clarkson Headlining Beachwood's Microsoft Opening

Beachwood Place Mall's newest store will have pop singer at April grand opening

Beachwood Place Mall will have one of the first Microsoft Stores in the country. Kelly Clarkson will headline the event, which is April 13 at 10:30 a.m. The full-service store — as opposed to the kiosk that opened before the holiday shopping season in 2012 — will have Microsoft's full line of tablets, PCs, phones and more, as well as tech trainings. Patrons can get in line for the opening at 10 p.m. Friday, April 12. The first 100 people in line at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 13 will get tickets to meet Kelly Clarkson and to her show at 6 p.m. Saturday. The next 1,000 people will get tickets to see her concert. Two Men Accused Of Using Fraudulent Credit Cards To Swindle Stores in Beachwood, Mayfield

According to the US Attorney's Office, the suspects had 55 fraudulently obtained credit cards

A grand jury returned a four-count indictment charging two men with crimes related to their possession of about 55 fraudulently obtained credit cards that they used to purchase more than $5,000 worth of merchandise from various stores at Beachwood Place Mall and Golden Gate shopping plazas, said Steven M. Dettelbach, the United States attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. “These men are accused of going on a shopping spree with fake credit cards,” Dettelbach said. “We all pay the price when people engage in theft like this and this office will work with our partners to stamp out credit card fraud.” James Gibson of Orlando, FL, and Lansford Beuns of Newport News, VA, were indicted on counts of conspiracy to commit access device fraud…

City Awaits Beachwood Place Expansion Plan

Beachwood's economic development director doesn't want to miss out on tenants, but needs a plan from the mall

Beachwood officials heard a statement earlier this month that they hope will not be repeated in the future. Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects said that the city had already missed out on four retailers "you would have loved to have had here" at a work session regarding an expansion plan for Beachwood Place Mall. Beachwood Economic Development Director Jim Doutt said he was disappointed to hear that, but the city still awaits an expansion plan from the mall's parent company, General Growth Properties in Chicago. Heller encouraged the city to make zoning modifications for a 5.6-acre section of Richmond Road now owned by GGP, though the company had no plan to present. The parent company of Beachwood Place Mall is eyeing an expansion, though details remain undefined. A Cleveland architect met with city officials this week to discuss zoning modifications needed to make the expansion a reality. Standalone restaurants and banks were among the possibilities discussed. Speaking on behalf of General Growth Properties, Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects gave no timeline for a new project at the mall, but he made it clear that the firm wants to implement tenants that would attract additional shoppers and tax dollars. GGP Needs Rezoning for Beachwood Place Expansion

Parent company hopes to attract tenants for a to-be-developed expansion

The joint work session between Beachwood City Council and the Planning & Zoning Commission was more about preparation than action. GGP, the parent company of Beachwood Place Mall, will expand the retail hub in the coming months, but in order to do so, the city will need to make zoning text and map modifications. Speaking on behalf of GGP, Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects said there was no timetable or specific plan for for the expansion just yet. Beachwood Place Plans to be Discussed at Joint Work Session

A representative from ka architects will be on hand tonight

Beachwood officials will get a sneak into near-future plans at city's biggest retail hub. The Beachwood Planning & Zoning Commission and City Council's committee-of-the-whole will hold a joint work session at 5:30 p.m. regarding upcoming projects at Beachwood Place Mall. The city will hear from Jim Heller of Cleveland-based ka architects, the firm that is expected to design an upcoming project at Beachwood Place for property owner GGP. Assistant Clerk of Council Pat Vanek said the city does not know much about the plan itself, but that Heller will be discussing ideas and not making a formal presentation. Not voting will take place at this meeting. The next regular city council meeting is on Jan. 14.
