Woman robbed of $6,000 cash Thursday, March 14 10 a.m. — A woman reported that Feb. 25 someone robbed her of $6,000 cash. The woman said that she drove with a friend and another person to a Beachwood car dealership to purchase a car. Her friend had told her to bring cash for the down payment, she said. The second man, who the woman did not know, told her that he had a gun and demanded the cash. There were no injuries and no one has been charged for the robbery. Burglars Enter Office Building in Beachwood

Police report that someone made off with few stolen items

Beachwood Police report that burglars were in a Beachwood office building over the weekend. Two businesses in the building at 23611 Chagrin Boulevard reported signs of burglars Monday morning, Jan. 28. One business reported that someone had been into their medical office. Desk drawers and filing cabinets were damaged, and $26 in items were reported stolen. In another business, police report that there were signs that someone tried to force open the door but did not gain entry. Both reports indicate that the incidents happened between Friday evening and Monday morning. These incidents are under investigation.

Painter scares resident in address mix-up Jan. 22, 12:07 p.m. — A Halcyon Road woman reported that her 19-year-old daughter saw a man trying to break into their garage door while they were inside the home. An officer arrived at the home and talked to the man the teen described, who told him that he was a painter hired to make repairs, but he was at the wrong house. The officer contacted the homeowner at the address the painter gave him and she confirmed that he was supposed to be there. RTA Uppercut Trials Delayed

Judge grants motions to delay trials for Artis Hughes and Shidea Lane

A Shaker Heights Municipal Court judge has granted motions to delay the trials of Artis Hughes and Shidea Lane. The two were involved in an altercation — which was recorded on a cell phone and later became a viral video — on an RTA bus in Beachwood last fall. Shidea Lane, 25, reportedly boarded an RTA #5 bus Sept. 18 without paying. A dispute began that ended in the notorious uppercut delivered by Hughes, who was driving the bus. Both Lane and Hughes were criminally charged following the incident.
