Beachwood wrestling scholarship fund a way to support Parmertor's family
Those in the Beachwood Community looking for a way to support Domenick Iammarino have one more outlet to choose from, says one local woman: support his wrestling legacy at Beachwood High School. The Ron Madow Athletic Achievement Award – a memorial scholarship - goes to a graduating wrestler every year and is named after Iammarino’s late friend and assistant coach. Ron’s widow Stacie said that donors can give in Iammarino’s name to honor him and help support the program Iammarino started nearly half a decade ago. “That’s his whole 40-some years that he’s been at Beachwood.” Iammarino’s grandson Daniel Parmertor died last week in a shooting at Chardon High School. Services Thursday, Friday for teen killed in Chardon High School slaying
Funeral services have been set for Daniel Parmertor, one of three teens who died after a shooting at Chardon High School and the grandson of longtime Beachwood wrestling coach Domenick Iammarino. A wrestling team parent told Beachwood Patch that the Beachwood High School wrestling team will wear patches on their singlets at Saturday's wrestling match with the letters "DP" in honor of their district's coach. The student killed the Chardon High School shooting has been identified by school officials as the grandson of a beloved longtime Beachwood High School wrestling coach. Daniel Parmertor, 16, was a junior at the Auburn Career Center in Geauga County, according to WKYC. He died of gunshot wounds. His grandfather is Domenick Iammarino, according to an email Superintendent Rich Markwardt sent to Beachwood City Schools staff, coaches and alumni this afternoon. High school senior is a three-time conference wrestling champion
Age: 18 School: Beachwood High School Accomplishment: He is a three-time conference champion in wrestling in the Chagrin Valley Conference. Key to Awesomeness: Alec Jacober is all by himself when he’s on the mat. It’s just how he likes it. Jacober has been the top wrestler at the Chagrin Valley Conference the last three consecutive years, taking the championship by beating out wrestlers from 15 other schools in the tournament-style competition. Basketball, swimming teams show promise
The strongest high school winter sports teams have begun to distinguish themselves from the pack, and Beachwood’s teams show promise to end the season well. There are great things in store for the Beachwood wrestling program as the Bison have the potential to become one of the top teams in the Chagrin Valley Conference. That promise is beginning to show in the team’s recent tournament and dual match performances. Coach Dugan Bentley’s team has just one senior and several talented underclassmen, including junior 171-pounder David Shapiro.
