One Wish LLC, the parent company of four e-commerce sites, ranks No. 26 on the list of Northeast Ohio's Fastest Growing Companies
In the '90s, One Wish began as a Cleveland-area jazz band. Now, it's also the name of one of Northeast Ohio's fastest growing companies. Case Western Reserve University's Weatherhead 100 ranked the Beachwood firm No. 26 on its annual list of emerging companies in the region. The orders of acoustic sound panels, batteries and soundproofing kept the employees busy — and profitable — in 2012. According to the Weatherhead…

Local craft beer aficionados share their holiday favorites to help you expand your beer palate. And you can get them close to home.
Rozi's Wine & Liquor House Inc. 14900 Detroit Ave. Lakewood 216-221-1119 Rozi's Manager Bill Barak gave us the rundown between the two general classifications of Christmas-time beers, Christmas or spiced and winter warmers. “Winter warmers are scotch ales or strong ales. Basically they are heavier more malty. They warm your belly. They are thick and thus take longer to get through. “Then you have your Christmas beers which are spice beers. The actual classification is spice or vegetable beers is the broad style.” In his opinion Ohio is the leader of the spice beers as far as Christmas ales go. There really aren't other areas that produce it or produce it as well as we do, he said. Winter warmer craft beer selection: Breckenridge Christmas…

Close knit family offers ideas and support.
It is not often that opportunity knocks — sometimes it pants, barks and wags too. Not many years ago Marsha Hotchkiss was working in an office and would go home to be with her two- and four-legged family and enjoy her hobbies of knitting and sewing in her free time. When the office was downsized, Hotchkiss, like many others, started looking at the job market, but nothing beckoned. One day she was brainstorming with her son, and he said offhandedly "Why not sew coats for dogs?" The rest may be called history for this burgeoning home-based business. Although it may seem a straight forward progression, the beginning of the business started with a good deed several years before. When the Hotchkiss Shelties were getting older they asked the …

The "simple, classic American grill" will open in Beachwood Place.
Beachwood's newest restaurant, the Cedar Creek Grille, opens to the public Wednesday, November 7. Owner Rick Doody has spent the last six months renovating the space in Beachwod's La Place* that housed Melange, which closed early this year, and preparing the restaurant to open. Follow us on Twitter | Like us on Facebook Doody, whose family business Lindey's Restaurant Group also owns Lindey's in Columbus' German Village, described the menu as simple and fairly limited: grilled fish, ham and cheese sandwiches. They'll be open for dinner seven days a week and possibly weekend brunch. Read more about the Cedar Creek Grille. *Editor's Note: The original version of this article stated that the restaurant was in Beachwood Place.

Tom, I hope I didn't imply there was a decision for Patch to shift its focus away from local news -- there wasn't. There was a company-wide decision to cover the elections closely, especially with so many Presidential candidate appearances in northeast Ohio, which did generate a LOT of debate in our Comments section. But you'll find each Patch site is still dedicated to covering local news and …   more ›
