The Beachwood Bison boys basketball team continue to reel in the awards after their best season ever
Beachwood junior John Davis III and senior Jordan Richardson are already awash in post-season accolades after leading the Bison boys basketball team to their best season ever and the Division III regional final. Davis was named the Division III player of the year and Richardson was an honorable mention on the All-Ohio team. Now, both players have made first team All-Chagrin Valley Conference. Davis led the Bison in scoring with 19.9 points per game; Richardson was second with 11.4. Richardson was also named the MVP of the Painesville District Tournament after he pulled down 50 rebounds in three games. Meanwhile, teammate Sterling “Trey” Sanders made the conference's second team and Julio Stevens and Jon Tramer received honorable mentions. …

The Beachwood junior led the Bison to the Divsion III regional final.
After a terrific run this basketball season, the Beachood Bison have another reason to celebrate. John Davis III was named Division III Player of the Year. “I’m really proud of him,” Beachwood coach Jason Pecjak said in a press release. “That’s the first time a Beachwood basketball player has ever gotten it. He was the only guy in Cleveland in all the divisions to get Player of Year. I thought that was pretty cool.” This season Davis led the Bison to a 23-win season and more importantly the Division III regional final. Beachwood lost to LeBrae 59-30 on Saturday. This season he scored 20 or more points in 14 of the Bison’s 27 games and twice scored 30 or more points in a game. Pecjak said he may be the best junior point guard in all of Ohio…

Submitted by BeachwoodBison.org: Behind 23 points from junior guard John Davis III, Beachwood overcame a slow start to down host Wickliffe, 68-51, on Thursday in a Chagrin Valley Conference Metro Division game. The Bison improved to 3-0 on the season. “It was a good win, probably the best game we’ve played up to this point,” said Beachwood head coach Jason Pecjak. “Our goal going in was to set the tone defensively with our ball pressure and I thought we did a good job of that.” Wickliffe (1-1) jumped out to a 17-12 first quarter lead but the Bison responded with a big second quarter to take a 35-28 lead into the break. Senior forward Jordan Richardson led the way for the Bison in the second half to keep Wickliffe from forging a comeback. …

Editor's Note: This post was submitted to Beachwood Patch by BeachwoodBison.org. Visit their website for more on the Bison. The Beachwood Bison were so close to a Division III district championship last year, they could taste it. This season, Coach Jason Pecjak and company are focused on feasting on the challenge of competing for a spot in the Sweet 16 - and more. Beachwood is coming off a 14-9 campaign in 2011-2012. The Bison competed in the CVC Metro against eventual Division IV Garfield Heights District champ Richmond Heights. The competitiveness of the regular-season schedule prepared Beachwood for a run in the Division III Harvey District tournament, which resulted in a district final appearance against Chanel. The Bison lost in …

Davis III adjusting to status as one area's top players
Beachwood point guard John Davis III has got a lot of nerve doffing a Pittsburgh Steelers baseball cap in the Greater Cleveland area, especially after the Browns lost to them for the 15th time in the last 16 games Thursday night. But if you look closely, the Bison and the Steelers share a similar sense of design that an initial flash of anger might obscure upon seeing the “black and gold” sported so proudly. As you might imagine, Davis has a quick explanation. “It’s just for the colors,” Davis said, “not the team.” Besides, after Beachwood (1-1, 1-0 Chagrin Valley Conference Metro Division) trounced Independence (1-2, 0-1), 81-49, on Saturday night at the South Gym, a fashion faux-pas, no matter how clever or well-intentioned, is easily …
