The Beachwood Bison were so close to a Division III district championship last year, they could taste it. This season, Coach Jason Pecjak and company are focused on feasting on the challenge of competing for a spot in the Sweet 16 - and more. Beachwood is coming off a 14-9 campaign in 2011-2012. The Bison competed in the CVC Metro against eventual Division IV Garfield Heights District champ Richmond Heights. The competitiveness of the regular-season schedule prepared Beachwood for a run in the Division III Harvey District tournament, which resulted in a district final appearance against Chanel. Red Raiders hit 25 of 30 free throws, Bison's season ends in second round of Div. II District Tournament
The Beachwood boys' basketball team fought all the way back from nine down to force a tie at 63 with a minute left in the second round of the Div. II District Tournament, but Harvey clamped down on defense and hit seven clutch free throws to ice the 70-63 victory and end the Bison’s season. Harvey led for most of the game, but never pulled away from the Bison throughout the first three quarters. Beachwood trailed by just one point (53-52) with six minutes left. Harvey came out of a timeout and utilized a 10-2 run over the next three minutes going up 63-54. “We were coming out too far to defend and they used their quickness to get around us,” Harvey head coach Tim Starkey said. “When we had to help, they’d kick it out and they were getting …

Bison advance to second round of Div. II District Tournament off of Townes' monster night
Edgewood gave Beachwood all they could muster in the third quarter, scoring 24 points. But at the end of the day the Bison proved to be too much, countering with 23 of their own en route to a 47-point second half and a 76-54 victory. The win advances Beachwood to the second round of the Div. II District Tournament. Senior Jeremiah Townes had a monster night for the Bison. He led all scorers with 29 points and added five rebounds.
