Beachwood, Shaker Heights among communities to study feasibility of regional dispatch center
Beachwood and Shaker Heights are among five communities that will use a $50,000 grant from the state to study the feasibility of a regional dispatch center. The Ohio Local Government Innovation Council approved more than $3.4 million in grants and $2.9 million in loans to 51 projects across the state today. The new program encourages collaboration and creative, new ideas to help communities save money on services. "Teamwork leads to great successes. City will join regional effort to evaluate feasibility for regional dispatch center
Beachwood City Council approved a measure to join four other cities to evaluate the possibility of a regional dispatch center at Tuesday’s council meeting. The measure called for Beachwood to join an application for a state grant of $100,000 to conduct the study for the feasibility of the joint project with the Eastside Departments Group Enforcement (EDGE). EDGE includes Beachwood, Euclid, South Euclid, Shaker Heights and University Heights. If the grant is awarded, Beachwood will pay up to $2,000 toward the grant’s required 10 percent match. Money to be used to study feasibility of regional dispatch center
City Council will consider an ordinance to join four other communities in a feasibility study for a possible regional dispatch center at tonight’s meeting. The five cities – South Euclid, Shaker Heights, Beachwood, Euclid and University Heights – are applying for a $100,000 state grant to conduct the study. The five cities make up the Eastside Departments Group Enforcement (EDGE), a project to explore sharing services among police departments. Council meets at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers in City Hall.
