Burglars Enter Office Building in Beachwood

Police report that someone made off with few stolen items

Beachwood Police report that burglars were in a Beachwood office building over the weekend. Two businesses in the building at 23611 Chagrin Boulevard reported signs of burglars Monday morning, Jan. 28. One business reported that someone had been into their medical office. Desk drawers and filing cabinets were damaged, and $26 in items were reported stolen. In another business, police report that there were signs that someone tried to force open the door but did not gain entry. Both reports indicate that the incidents happened between Friday evening and Monday morning. These incidents are under investigation.

Address Mix-Up Spurs Burglary Call

Beachwood Police incidents Jan. 22 to 25

Painter scares resident in address mix-up Jan. 22, 12:07 p.m. — A Halcyon Road woman reported that her 19-year-old daughter saw a man trying to break into their garage door while they were inside the home. An officer arrived at the home and talked to the man the teen described, who told him that he was a painter hired to make repairs, but he was at the wrong house. The officer contacted the homeowner at the address the painter gave him and she confirmed that he was supposed to be there. Woman charged with $686 shoplift Jan. 24, 3:51 p.m. — A woman was arrested at the Beachwood Place Mall and charged with stealing $686 of merchandise from Dillard’s. Police Discover Attempted Burglary

Beachwood Police incidents Jan. 18 to 20

Woman charged with stealing at Dillard’s Jan. 18, 3:28 p.m. — A woman was arrested at Dillard’s at the Beachwood Place Mall and charged with stealing $308 of merchandise. Man charged with driving with open container Jan. 20, 11:31 p.m. — A man was arrested on Chagrin Boulevard at Interstate 271 and charged with drunken driving and having an open container of alcohol in his car. Attempted burglary reported Jan. 20, 1:11 p.m. — Police responded to a burglary alarm on Hyde Park and found signs of attempted forced entry. Burglars Try to Break Into Beachwood Home

Nearly $800 in belongings stolen from gym locker Jan. 1, 10:54 a.m. — A man reported that his cell phone, wallet, cash, leather gloves and credit cards, all valued at $790, were stolen from a gym locker at Life Time Fitness. $4,200 of merchandise stolen from Gucci Jan. 1, 1:59 p.m. — An employee at Gucci inside Saks Fifth Avenue reported that three purses were stolen by two people on Dec. 30. Man escapes after $1,790 shoplift Jan. 1, 4:07 p.m. — Police arrested a woman they say stole $2,400 in merchandise from Saks Fifth Avenue. A man police believe stole $1,790 in goods in the same incident …

Attempted Burglary Reported at Beachwood Home

Woman charged with $165 shoplift Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2:41 p.m. — A woman was arrested at Giant Eagle and charged with stealing $165.59 of merchandise. $4,500 withdrawn illegally from resident’s bank account Wednesday, Nov. 21, 5:57 p.m. — A woman reported that someone fraudulently withdrew $4,500 from her savings account. Resident reports attempted burglary Thursday, Nov. 22, 11:37 p.m. — A Sulgrave Road resident reported that someone entered her home and disturbed her property, but could not find anything missing. Commerce Park Offices Broken Into

Nearly $9,000 in damage reported to one suite

Ten offices at a Beachwood building were broken into over the weekend. Police report that ten suites at Commerce Par Circle at 23366 Commerce Park, including La Danse, Ohio Fire Shield and Kozuch Insurance Agency, were broken into. Kozuch Insurance Agency reported over $8,800 in damage and vandalism and the other nine offices reported minor damage. The incident follows a similar crime last weekend, when 12 suites at the Gunderson Building were broken into. Most reported nothing stolen and few reported that cash or checks were taken.

Building inspector, flagman fight at intersection Monday, Oct. 17, 8:57 a.m. — A building inspector got into a physical fight with a flagman at Green Road and Fernwood Drive. Neither party pressed charges. Suspicious person questions resident Monday, Oct. 17, 8:49 p.m. — A resident reported that a woman came to her house and asked a lot of questions. Police marked the incident as suspicious. Woman arrested at Saks; charged with forgery Monday, Oct. 17, 10:51 a.m. — A woman was arrested at Saks Fifth Avenue and charged with forgery of checks, identity theft, counterfeiting and driving under suspension. Beachwood Police: Burglar Caught in the Act

Police arrested a man on Sittingbourne Lane Friday after residents said they saw him leaving their home

A man is in jail on a $25,000 bond after a couple said they spotted him leaving their home while they were working in the yard. Tyrone L. West, Jr., 43, of Cleveland, was arrested on Sittingbourne Lane around 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. Beachwood Police Chief Mark Sechrist said that the couple left the front door unlocked while they worked in their yard on Brian Drive and spotted West leaving their home around 1:30 p.m. They called Beachwood Police, who responded and arrested the man nearby on Sittingbourne Lane. No one was injured during the incident, and West did not have a weapon. The police report states that West pretended to be lost when they confronted him. West pleaded not guilty to one count of attempted burglary in Cuyahoga County …

Woman, officer spot coyote Wednesday, Sept. 21, 6:03 p.m. — A woman reported that she saw a large coyote on her property near 26900 block of Annesley Road and the responding police officer reported that he saw it, too. The animal ran when the officer arrived, and police told the woman to call police if it was seen again. Car stolen from Hilton parking lot Thursday, Sept. 22, 5:01 p.m. — A man reported that his 2011 Infiniti was stolen from the Hilton Hotel parking lot between Monday, Sept. 19 and Thursday, Sept. 22. Police respond to man breaking into own home Friday, Sept. 23, 4:13 p.m. — Shaker Heights police called Beachwood police to report that a man was crawling through a window at a home near Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard. Three Beachwood Homes Burglarized Overnight Friday

Police searching for suspect who took electronics, jewelry, cash

Police are searching for someone they believe burglarized three Beachwood homes overnight Friday. “That’s a lot,” said Beachwood Police Chief Mark Sechrist. “I can’t tell you the last time we had three burglaries in 12 hours.” The homes, all located within two miles of each other, are located in residential neighborhoods near Richmond Road and Fairmount Boulevard. Sechrist added that electronics, jewelry and cash were taken from the homes. Police have suspects, he added, but he did not release details. The homes were on Hurlingham Road, Greenwich Lane and Meldon Boulevard. If you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood, Sechrist asks that you immediately call police at 216-464-1234.
