Woman falls into partially open manhole At about noon on Thursday, a women fell into a partially open manhole in the 24600 block of Chagrin Boulevard. Beachwood firefighters took her to South Pointe Hospital where she received medical treatment. Laptops stolen from cars In a span of three hours on Wednesday, three cars parked in Beachwood were broken into and laptops were taken from them. Man accused of exposing himself, driving with expired license Feb. 8, 8:40 p.m. — Witnesses reported that a man was both exposing himself and driving recklessly near the intersection of Richmond Road and Chagrin Boulevard. Beachwood Police arrested a Cleveland man on charges of speeding, driving without a license and driving while drunk. An officer spotted the man driving on the southbound lanes of Interstate 271 Sunday evening. According to police, the man was driving 88 mph in a 60 mph zone, making unsafe lane changes and drifting into other lanes. The officer stopped the man's car and asked him to take field sobriety tests, which he failed. The man then took a breathalyzer test, which showed his breath-alcohol content was over twice the legal driving limit, police said. The legal BAC level to drive is beneath 0.08. Three taken to the hospital after a tow truck and car collide Feb. 4, 6:30 a.m. — Three people were taken to the hospital after a car and tow truck collided on the southbound express lanes of Interstate 271. Suspect is second to be arrested for drunken wrong-way driving on 271
The following information was supplied by the Beachwood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. A woman arrested and charged with drunken driving is the second in two weeks whom police say they caught driving south on northbound I-271. On April 29, a man was charged with drunken driving after an officer said he spotted him driving the wrong way in the northbound express lanes. And on May 13, Beachwood Police responded to I-271 after someone called to report that a car was driving the south in the northbound lanes near the Chagrin Boulevard exit.
