Throwback teacher entertains kids
For five years, I’ve driven by the Beachwood Community Center on Fairmount Boulevard and admired its sleek, modern look. Everything about it oozes 21st century. Built in 2006, it’s now home to all kinds of community activities from aerobics to art classes to dance and ballet. I enrolled my daughter, Julia, in a Movin’ Together class there for the first time this summer. The class description promised “a movement potpourri … with costumes and props, hula hoops, balls and more.” Kids 18 months to 5 years old were welcome. I expected a young teacher with her iPod Touch, playing current music, just as we had experienced in Julia’s earlier class there. Instead, we met Helen Berman, a wonderful throwback who defied the modern amenities that …

Twice a week, mah jongg enthusiasts gather at Beachwood Community Center
Some folks play bridge. Others play dominoes. But the game is mah jongg for the ladies who come to the Beachwood Community Center from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Mah jongg originated in China, true. But like any immigrant, it changed when it came to America. By then, the regulars who gather at the Beachwood Community Center will have played thousands of hands – and triumphantly cried "…

I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by Fedex. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, http://BuzzSave.com   more ›
