New 355-unit building developers will seek final approval at Planning & Zoning meeting tonight.
Developers behind a proposed 355-unit luxury apartment complex will seek final approval from the Beachwood Planning & Zoning Commission Thursday, Sept. 27. The building at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard will house 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom units marketed toward young professionals. The building will be built where Commerce Park Buildings I, II and III stand at the southeast corner of the intersection. Lyndhurst mayor calls fire largest in city's history
UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. The fire that broke out at Sherri Park Apartments in Lyndhurst has been extinguished. The fire, which erupted after a landscaping vehicle hit a gas line, causing a leak, spread into all six floors of the south building. Around 100 residents of the south building were evacuated to The Greens of Lyndhurst, a nearby assisted living facility, said Lyndhurst Mayor Joe Cicero. He added that the building was evacuated after the gas leak started at around 12:30 p.m. but before the fire broke out. Crews shut off the gas line at 3:16 p.m., extinguishing the fire more than two hours after it started. Personnel from more than 30 agencies, including Beachwood and as far as Kirtland and East Cleveland, responded to help put out the …

The 340-unit upscale apartment building is to be built at Chagrin and Green
City Council has cleared the way for an upscale apartment complex on Chagrin Road, creating a new zoning district and rezoning the property where three Commerce Park office buildings stand. City officials hope the four-story, 340-unit building to be built at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard will attract young professionals to the city. City Council to hear public comment on two ordinances at upcoming meetings
City Council scheduled public hearings for two ordinances at Monday’s meeting. The public hearing on the ordinance to allow goats and sheep at Beachwood homes will be May 7. Council can vote on the ordinance, which would allow residents to keep two goats or one sheep at homes on at least 1.1 acres of property, that night. Council set an April 17 public hearing for an ordinance to change the zoning code for electronic signs, a change spurred after Dollar Bank erected an electronic billboard on Interstate 271 and Chagrin Boulevard. Council will meet in special meeting at 7 p.m.
City Council will meet in a special meeting tonight to discuss matters related to economic development in the city. Earlier we reported that the meeting was set for Council to hear a proposal from the Chamber of Commerce for a Visitors and Convention Bureau and to hear about the county’s anti-poaching proposal. The agenda was amended last week to include a discussion about pending legislation to enact a new zoning district for apartments in the city. City Planner George Smerigan will present information for a possible restriction on the number of studio units allowed in apartment buildings in this zoning district. Four ordinances to be discussed March 19
Public hearings for measures that would allow farmers markets and new apartments buildings in Beachwood are set for March. Two of the ordinances to be discussed create a new zoning classification for apartments and rezone the Commerce Park property on the corner of Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard to that new classification. The NRP Group, LLC purchased that property, which is zoned for offices, late last year and intends to build a new luxury apartment complex on the site. Approval would mean new apartments at Four Seasons and Commerce Park
The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended measures that would allow new apartments in Beachwood at Thursday's meeting. Measures under consideration would allow an apartment building at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard and another apartment complex on George Zieger Drive. Representatives from The NRP Group, LLC attended the meeting and gave a few more details about what they may propose to the city for a new apartment complex on an 8-acre parcel at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard. The property now houses Commerce Park Buildings I, II and III, three "deteriorating" office buildings that stand mostly vacant, developers noted.
