A little church in Virginia is making a name for itself by not caring about holy clothes or clothes with holes.

The church's congregants, in fact, do not care about clothes at all. Not when worshipping, anyway.

While Virginia prepares for another round of snow and cold, NBC12 brings the story of White Tail Chapel in Southampton, where people find warmth in worshipping just the way they were brought into the world: naked.

Pastor Allen Parker told the station it's not about the clothes but rather about baring his soul to Christ and leading his flock down that path of righteousness, no matter what they're wearing.

The appropriately named Katie and Robert Church married at White Tail Chapel and say the church has given them a sense of Christian community with none of the pretense of a traditional church.

"Once we were married, and we were here, this whole place became our family," Katie Church told the station. "I feel like I can turn to anyone in this church, or even in this park, and they will be there to help me."

"People are more open as far as hearing the word of God, and speaking the word of God," agreed Robert Church.

Adam and Eve sinned; God gave them clothes to cover their sin with the blood sacrifice of an animal. Until Jesus the Messiah, God's Son, the second Person of the Trinity came to earth to cover the sin of all who trust in Him for forgiveness of their rebellion against the Creator. Worldwide social conventions are to wear clothes, however; nudist colonies are OK for adults. Hopefully there are no children in this small congregation.

Modesty does not go out of style. Except in our sex-crazed culture. Immodest clothing abounds everywhere, even in some churches.
Tom Martin February 11, 2014 at 11:32 PM
Dale, why hide the nudity from the children? That defeats the purpose of the nudist philosophy, which says that nudity is normal rather than sexual.

These folks are mentally ill, however if they are not actually mocking Christianity and believe and follow Christ's teachings then that is what truly matters. Only God knows what is in their minds and hearts.

Why is this crap on Patch?
Peter Gozinya February 12, 2014 at 08:31 AM
Well put Larry Bush. The ones that do not participate in nudist organizations or nude resorts never understand that it has absolutely nothing to do with sex, exhibitionism or lust.

Just another example of how religion COMPLETELY perverts the relationship between man and whatever god is. Doesn't matter that it's not sexualized nudity...it's silly. It's pointless. The barriers between man and his maker are in his mind, not in his clothes. Don't get me wrong....there's nothing AT ALL wrong with nudity...but this smacks of showboating to put one's presumed piety on parade. Just sad. Sad and pathetic.

What is "Trending"? Why would the Patch even publish a story like this! This story is linked to the Fredericksburg Patch so why is it even on this site. You have a place on the side of the comment box " that says "Flag as Inappropriate". This story is inappropriate, not the comments. Christians and Jews have to take insults from the media like this. This guy is a fraud not a pastor and the writers sells stories but it does not change the fact that God is Holy and -->Still God and believers don't buy this nonsense.

Ummm Sorry about the Tithe, I must have left my wallet in my Pants.

Its always the ones you don't wanna see naked. Barf.

The problem with the modern church is not a lack of faith, but rather in the wrong thing. If one's faith is not anchored squarely in the cross of Christ, irrespective in what else in might be anchored in, and no matter how scriptural the other thing might be in its own right, the upshot is, GOD will not honor such faith. He honors Faith alone which is the Cross of Christ.

Connie, the news media sensationalizes religion of all types, mostly because it sells papers. It has the unintended (or intended?) effect of marginalizing it. e.g., Westboro “Baptist” church cult, the church in Florida that offensively burned Korans, etc.

Here’s a theological blog post for those who are interested in the Bible: http://troy.patch.com/groups/dale-murrishs-blog/p/bp--by-faith-old-to-new-covenant-saints

A good place to expose yourself to the naked truth and the bare facts.

Perhaps they should move to the Naked City!

I wonder how many women in this "church" this "pastor" has seduced. I wasn't born yesterday! These people are coo-coo!
Mike James February 12, 2014 at 11:54 PM
God isn't impressed by the kind of clothing that you wear. He made clotthes for the sake of man (Genesis 3), so that man could approach Him and not be ashamed. God is far more interested in the condition of your heart and not your tastes in the latest fashion styles. Make your heart right and the rest won't matter (Matt. 6:30-34).

Why do the people that should really keep their clothes want show the rest of the world what not to look like?
Ercie Berwick February 13, 2014 at 01:12 PM
I am a practical person. I am a married woman who has given birth to three children. I wasn't born yesterday. Nobody can convince me that it is "spiritual" to worship in the nude. I'm sure you know what I'm alluding to. It's stuff and nonsense, and no person who has the ability to think analytically can possibly accept this form of "worship." It's baloney!!!

I am sure all the closet pedophiles in this church are more than pleased with this pastor's decision. They will be attracting molesters in droves as that type of sinners "see the light". Plus giving them something to perform acts of self abuse to as they drool over telecasts. Not a good way to grow your congregation at all! Seems to me the old saying of "The way to h3ll is paved with good intentions" applies directly to this bone headed attention getting scheme.

The thought of what these people are doing makes me ill. It isn't just because they are parading around buck naked. What about the sanitary part of what's happening? Sitting in a pew naked from the waist down? Oh, my sainted aunt!!! :(
Bryan Harz February 18, 2014 at 11:47 AM
Sherry you said "whatever floats your boat but what about the children who have no choice." When it comes to religion, children never have a choice, unless their parents are somewhat progressive. They are proselytized at a very young age, which is how most religions can quickly grow in numbers. I believe only mormons wait until kids are at least 12 before they can join, which I think is smart. As for nude church, no thanks, unless they have heated pews. :-)

With powered covers that move once the person rises like at some commodes at airports!
Bryan Harz February 18, 2014 at 03:23 PM
Grumpy, hopefully that would be the only thing that rises...LOL
Grumpy Old Man February 18, 2014 at 04:14 PM
You got that right!

Yuck indeed.
Terri Black February 27, 2014 at 06:16 PM
Satanists "worship" in the nude too. Nothing but an alarm bell goes off when I read about so-called "churches" like this. We are supposed to dress with modesty. To me, this church is blaspheming.
