The Beachwood Board of Education elected its 2013 president and vice president at Monday’s meeting.
Brian Weiss, who has served on the board since 2004, will serve as president for the second consecutive year.
“As one of the newer members of the board, your guidance has been exceptional,” board member Steve Rosen told Weiss during the meeting. Superintendent Rich Markwardt called Weiss confident, altruistic and respectful.
“No one has been as compassionate as Brian, as level-headed, always wanting to do the right thing,” member David Ostro said.
Mitchel Luxenburg was elected vice president.
Both votes were 4-0, with the elected abstaining for their own appointments.
The Board also approved several other measures during its 2013 organizational meeting, including scheduling its 2013 meetings for the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 7:30 p.m.
