Two Lady Bison Pulled From Team by OHSAA

Ohio High School Athletic Association rules two girls' basketball players ineligible to play for one year

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) has ruled two members of the Beachwood girls’ basketball team ineligible to play for one year effective Jan. 31.

According to school spokesperson Doug Levin, the two students were found ineligible due to inaccurate statements on residency paperwork filed with the OHSAA.

The students meet Beachwood City Schools’ residency requirements, noted Levin, and their participation this season will not be forfeited. The school voluntarily pulled the two students at games since Jan. 28, Levin noted.

The team’s top scorer, Amber Bogard, was absent from the Feb. 1 game against Hawken, but Levin would not say whether she was involved. He added that school officials are not permitted to release the names of the two students.

The students’ parents may appeal the decision to the OHSAA’s Board of Directors.
