POLLS: Beachwood Schools Change Arrival/Dismissal Times

What do you think of the changes?

Beachwood City Schools changed arrival and dismissal times for four of their five schools this week, adding an extra half hour to the school day at Bryden Elementary and starting classes at 10 minutes earlier.

Some parents expressed concern about the original proposal, which suggested that day be extended by 50 minutes.

It also suggested starting classes at Beachwood High School 20 minutes earlier. Students and parents told the Board during meetings that they worried that the change would eliminate academy periods, which are morning office hours with teachers when students get extra help or have questions answered.

With the new schedule, Beachwood High School has added an extra-long academy period on Wednesdays, when school starts later in the morning.
