Name: Ed Klein

Occupation: Beginning Aug. 1, he will take over as the principal of Right now he’s an assistant principal at Euclid High School.

Hometown: Klein is from the Pittsburgh area (and yes, he’s a Pittsburgh football fan — “But at least I’m not a Michigan fan,” he points out). He attended John Carroll University and has lived in Northeast Ohio ever since.

Favorite thing about his job: “The best part about my job is just working with kids,” said Klein. He added that he loves working with large groups, as well as tailoring education plans for individual kids.

Proudest accomplishment: Success with individual students. He said that when he thinks about his proudest moments, they are moments when he realizes he made a difference in one child’s life — “the individual kids who hit rough spots and who I’ve helped get through those rough spots.”

Why he went into education: “I enjoyed talking about literature and talking about writing and helping people get something better at something — working with people to help develop their skills.”

One thing you don’t know: Klein is a big fan of the outdoors — camping, hiking, kayaking, fishing, canoeing.
