upon his retirement last spring, Spiccia said that another principal stint wasn't out of the question for him.

He has a master's in education from Cleveland State University and serves as chair of the Lake County Drug/Alcohol Coalition and a member of the Lake County Opiates Task Force.

His eight-year run at Mentor High School was marked by some difficult times: four students died - three from suicides and one from a drug overdose - and the district faces lawsuits from parents who say educators did not do enough to stop bullying.

While Spiccia said he could not discuss the ongoing bullying lawsuits, he did say that it bothers him that some think he was indifferent to the plight of the bullied students.

"They would lead some to believe that I was uncaring and ambivalent," Spiccia said. "That's not true."

Spiccia's resume lists several presentations on bullying that he's given.
