Ed Klein to Be Recommended for BHS Principal Spot

Superintendent announces decision; Board of Education will vote Wednesday

The Beachwood will vote on a recommendation from staff to hire Ed Klein as the next principal of at a special meeting next week.

Klein, assistant principal at Euclid High School, is a Ph.D. candidate at Kent State University and was the 2010-2011 Ohio Assistant Principal of the Year.

"In addition to experience with curriculum, instruction, and school safety, he has established himself as a community partner, effective manager and professional leader," wrote Superintendent Rich Markwardt in an emailed announcement Friday.

Klein started as an English teacher at the high school and received his master's in education from Ursiline College.

He was up against retired Mentor High School principal Joe Spiccia for the spot. If approved, Klein will take the spot vacated by Bob Hardis, 

The Board of Education will meet at the Board of Education building at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 30 to vote on the recommendation.
