Beachwood High School Entering Final Renovation Phases Ahead of Schedule

Check out the latest progress on the $35.6 million high school renovation.

Beachwood High School will enter its final renovation phase ahead of schedule, Turner Construction reported to the Board of Education this week.

The latest update — outlined in the PDF above — puts the start of the final phase of construction on April 11, nearly two months ahead of schedule.

Right now workers are repurposing the community meeting room and administrative offices in the area that used to be the North Gym.

In the final phase, the company will renovate the cafeteria, turn the administrative offices into a marketing classroom and make the final touches on the atrium.

The $35.6 million renovation will complete in August 2013, but work will not disrupt classroom time, the district notes.

Last summer, the district built two new wings, an art studio and gym. Renovations of the pool, south gym, dining hall, auditorium, library and athletic fields will also take place this year.

The renovations is funded mainly by a levy voters approved in 2010. Federal stimulus money will pay a $5.6 million share of the cost.
