Beachwood Graduate to be recognized as U.S. Presidential Scholar

Beachwood High School graduate Scott Remer will be recognized for his achievements in Washington D.C. on Monday and might meet the president

A former is headed to Washington D.C. this weekend to be recognized for his academic achievements.

Scott Remer, 's Presidential Scholar, will be in the nation's capital Saturday for the recognition and might meet President Barack Obama.

He's one of the country’s 141 Presidential Scholars by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, a board nominiated by President Barack Obama.

“I was kind of stunned,” Remer told The Sun News about his selection. "Obviously, it’s a very difficult thing to accomplish.

“Out of all the extremely deserving high school seniors, they picked me to be one of only 141. I’m very honored they chose me.”

Remer will attend Yale and is considering studying history and East Asian culture.
