Beachwood City Schools Rank 'Excellent' for Second Year

Ohio Department of Education released preliminary data; full results available Wednesday

were ranked "Excellent" for the second year running by the Ohio Department of Education for the 2010-2011 school year, according to The Columbus Dispatch.

from “Excellent with Distinction” — the highest rank possible — to “Excellent” when its performance index score dropped from 107.2 to 106.6. Once this score — which reflects the achievement of each tested student — drops, districts must improve the performance score two years in a row to earn Excellent with Distinction again.

The district earned a performance index score of 107.4 for the 2010-2011 school year, improving on last year’s score.

The district also met all 26 standards required by the state.

Test scores, along with factors such as school attendance and graduation rate, are used to rate all Ohio public schools annually.
