Beachwood City Schools Expected to Eliminate Asst. Superintendent Position

Reorganization of top administrators expected at tonight's meeting

The Beachwood Board of Education will consider measures to reorganize two top administrative positions at tonight’s council meeting.

If approved, the resolutions eliminate the assistant superintendent position, currently held by Philip Wagner, and technology network coordinator position. The Board has already approved the new position of director of human resources and will vote on creating a director of curriculum and technology tonight. Kenneth Veon, a current third-grade teacher, is expected to fill the position.

District spokesperson Doug Levin said that the board is in the process of filling the director of human resources job.

In May, He did not get an offer for that position, but Levin said that Wagner is still “looking to advance his career.”

Editor's Note: The original version of this article reported that Wagner would resign; in fact, board will vote on a measure that would suspend his contract.
