UPDATE: Rosen, Mintz Ready to Tackle Schools

Isaacson loses election on 264 votes

Steve Rosen and Josh Mintz will take two open Beachwood City Schools Board of Education seats, according to unofficial final election results.

Mintz, who is ill, released a written statement today: "I am extremely thankful for the voters and residents of Beachwood. I want to assure them that the trust they have placed in me is well founded and I will work hard to make sure our schools will be institutions of learning that we can all be proud of."

Mintz, who works in auto sales and leasing, won 264 votes over Isaacson. Both were challengers and neither candidate had previous tenure in political offices.

Isaacson and Rosen ran on a joint ticket, and Rosen said he was surprised that Isaacson lost. "I thought we did a good job getting out to the voters that experience matters," he said.

Rosen added, "I think the people will be well served by Josh, but I also thought that they would have been well served by Alec.

Rosen said that, after using the acces he has to executive sessions to learn more about the workings of the board, the first issue he would like to tackle is school facilities usage.

A study conducted this summer concluded that 

To the voters, Rosen said, "Thank you very much for your trust and support and your vote. As I've always said, my number one thing has been to put the kids' needs first."
