Council passes measure to increase sewer rates for five businesses

City council passed an ordinance that raises sewer rates for five Beachwood businesses at last night’s council meeting.

After a public hearing during which no one commented, council approved the measure unanimously. Councilman Brian Linick was absent from the meeting.

  • A request to split a property lot to add another home on Hurlingham Road.
  • An ordinance to pay $29,600 in bills.
  • An ordinance to purchase life insurance policies for city employees.
  • An ordinance to add unpaid rental licensing fees to the property taxes on four properties.
  • An ordinance to add unpaid lawn mowing fees for several properties to those properties’ taxes.
  • An ordinance to transfer solid waste and recycling services to Penn Ohio Coal Company with a savings of $3.45 per ton.
  • The purchase of a $138,000 Caterpillar for the city’s service department.
  • An emergency repair to Richmond Road between Harvard Road and the Ahuja Medical Center where the heat caused the pavement to buckle and crumble earlier this summer at a cost of $64,500.
  • To allow the Cleveland Heights/University Heights Adult Basic and Literacy Education program to use the Beachwood Community Center while the Beachwood Library undergoes renovations.
