MAP: Chagrin, Green, Richmond, S. Woodland Set for Summer Construction
UPDATED July 2: We rounded up all the major projects the city has planned for the summer; find out how to avoid those orange barrels
Summer is the season for orange barrels in Ohio, and Beachwood will see its share in a couple of high traffic areas this summer.
Beachwood staff engineer Tom Kreczko gave a few words of advice for drivers.
“Take your time, drive carefully, and pay attention to the detour routes,” he said.

South Woodland Road
Area: Richmond Road to Sulgrave Road
Work starts: Late April
Work ends: May 23
Status: Bid awarded to Tri Mor Construction Corporation for $593,125
Richmond Road Reconstruction and Widening
Area: Hendon Road to Fairmount Boulevard
Work starts: June 11
Work ends: Mid-August
Status:
Green Road
Area: Chagrin Road to Fairmount Boulevard
Work starts: Work began on the portion of Green Road between Fairmount Boulevard and South Woodland Road with northbound traffic rerouted in early June, and then crews will move to the portion between South Woodland and Chagrin in early- to mid-August with southbound traffic rerouted.
Work ends: Unknown
Status: Bid awarded to Burton Scot Contractors.
Note: The Cuyahoga County Engineer is acting as an agent on this project, said Kreczko, managing the contract and pitching in for some of the cost. Shaker Heights will pay for the portion in their city. The county estimated the total cost at $2.3 million, but the final cost will not be known until bids are awarded.
Chagrin Boulevard
Area: Park East to Cemetary Drive
Work starts: Estimated for the first or second week of June
Work ends: Early July
Status:
2012 Resurfacing Program
Area: Sulgrave Road from Fairmount to Shaker Boulevard and from S. Woodland to Letchworth Road will be resurfaced. Also, Cedar Road will be patched, and large area repairs will be done on Turnbridge Road and Bernwood Drive. No road closures are expected from any of these repairs.
Work starts: Mid-August
Work ends: Within 60 days of start date

Area: Harvard Road at Richmond Road and Green Road
Work starts: Mid-July
Work ends: Within 45 days of start date
