Ordinance: Pet Lodge USA

The ordinance would rule the business “similar and harmonious” to the businesses already allowed in the zoning district.

Dan Kryzanowski, owner of Pet Lodge USA, told the Planning and Zoning Commission that the building is perfect for his headquarters and training facility, and he wants to sign a 10-year lease.

Commission members were skeptical of the proposal at the first meeting, and City Planner George Smerigan said that allowing it could set a precedent allowing other pet kennels into Beachwood.

The Commission  Councilman and Commissioner Mark Wachter voted against.

The measure could be voted on tonight.

Public Hearing: New Chagrin Bvd. Apartments

Two of the public hearings are for ordinances that create a new zoning classification for apartments and rezone the Commerce Park property on the corner of Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard to that new classification.

The NRP Group, LLC purchased that property, which is zoned for offices, late last year and  The existing office buildings – Commerce Park I, II and III – would be torn down.

Public Hearing: Farmers Markets

Another ordinance to be discussed at this meeting

Mayor Merle Gorden said that the Cleveland Clinic requested permission to hold a farmers market as part of a nutrition program.

The ordinance to allow farmers markets would restrict the size of the booths, signs and what can be sold. It would also require vendors to get approval from the city planner and police chief before selling.

The Cleveland Clinic has a weekly farmers market in several Northeast Ohio communities,

Public Hearing: Mixed-Use Zoning

Finally, a public hearing for an ordinance to change Beachwood’s limited manufacturing and storage district to a mixed-use zoning district will be held.
