Beachwood School Board Approves $16K Track Repair

Superintendent says repairs will extend track's life until rebuild can be considered

The track will last about three years longer with a $16,640 repair that the approved at Monday night's meeting.

The track has small divots and pieces missing, said Superintendent Rich Markwardt. Though an athletic fields study recently concluded that the track is safe to use, the repairs will improve the track's aesthetics and make for a better running surface that will last for about three years, said Markwardt.

He added that the district intends to consider installing a new track, the possibility of installing artificial turf on the football field and other major athletic field improvements after the  are complete.
