Beachwood Offers Summer Trips to Seniors

Learn more about the trips the city is offering this year

Beachwood seniors will have three opportunities to hit the road this summer with their neighbors.

The city has approved deposits for three recreational trips offered to senior citizens and hosted by the Community Services department. Deposits for trips to Chicago, the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake and a Mississippi River cruise total $80,000.

The city will be reimbursed for those costs once the trips are booked. Officials say the trips typically sell out quickly.

"People should know that the city does not pay for these trips," Beachwood City Councilman Melvin Jacobs said. "It's a break-even amount for the city, all these trips sell out immediately."

Beachwood City Council approved the deposits at Monday's meeting.
