Beachwood Earns Share of Green Grants

The recycling grants were created by the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District to help promote and expand recycling in the county.

On Wednesday, the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District announced the recipients of its 2013 Community Recycling Awareness grant Recycling Container grant.

Beachwood is among the communities that made the cut.

The city will receive $3,150 to conduct two shred days and to fund a vehicle wrap that will promote recycling.

The grants total $221,338, and were awarded to 38 communities and 33 schools and non-profit organizations throughout the county, according to Diane Bickett, executive director of the CCSWD.

"Grants will be used to establish recycling programs in schools and workplaces; purchase recycling containers for city parks and ball fields; and to educate residents about community recycling programs," said Bickett.
