Beachwood City Council Approves Fire Station Repair, Software Contracts

Beachwood City Council approved a few contracts at its regular meeting this week, which will be the final one of the year.

The contracts will allow vendors to repair damages at Fire Station No. 1, supply the city with new parcel management software and maintain the Beachwood's Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning systems at City Hall, the Community Center and police and fire stations.

Here's some information about the contracts:

•  Beachwood entered a contract with Panzica Construction of Mayfield Village not to exceed $113,096 to fix damage caused by water leakage and infiltration. The company will install wood nailers and aluminum copings to the north, east and west elevations of the fire station. Windows will be wrapped, failed caulking will removed and replaced and penetrating sealer will be installed on all elevations.

• The city will purchase new parcel management software from Rochester, N.Y.-based General Code. The contract states that the cost is not to exceed $52,836. In a memo to the mayor, Building Commissioner William Griswold said the software the building department had been using since 1999 was "functionally obsolete."

• City Council voted to renew a comprehensive HVAC technical support contract with Siemens Building Technologies Inc. The contract calls for 24-hour monitoring and maintenance for the automated HVAC systems at City Hall, the Community Center and the police and fire stations. The contract's $72,050 price tag is unchanged from 2012.
