Aloft Hotel Tries Again in Beachwood

Council will discuss possibility of incentives to bring Aloft to Chagrin Highlands

Council will again be speaking with Aloft Hotel developers in a public meeting scheduled for tonight before their regular meeting.

City council called the special meeting for 6 p.m. to discuss incentives for Aloft Hotel,

The hotel has now been proposed for the Chagrin Highlands area.

Developers pulled the first proposal after who expressed concern that the hotel would be disruptive to their neighborhood, and some alleged that Council was giving the developers and property owners special treatment.

Scott Berkowitz, a local developer who has been working with the national hotel chain, first spoke to the city's Economic Development Commitee about the new proposal at a March 1 meeting.
