Update: Two Arrested, Suspected of Beachwood Bank Robberies

Cleveland FBI authorities release names of two suspected to be involved in over a dozen area robberies

Two suspects thought to be involved in more than a dozen area bank robberies, including two in Beachwood – in and in  – and , were arrested after a police chase Monday afternoon.

Dwayne L. McDaniel, age 35, of Maple Heights, and Charles A. Compton, age 31, of Euclid have been charged with one count each of federal bank robbery, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years. More charges are pending, FBI Special Agent in Charge Scott Wilson said.

A man entered the Key Bank on East Aurora Road in Twinsburg about 2:12 p.m. Monday.

Oakwood Village Police attempted to stop the car, but the suspects went west to I-480. They got off the highway on Lee Road and turned on to Miles Road, until they hit a pole on East 131 Street, north of Broadway Avenue in Garfield Heights.

Oakwood police caught both men, including one who tried to escape on foot.

Compton is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Cleveland this afternoon, and McDaniel, who is still in the hospital, should appear sometime Wednesday, said Wilson.
