Second Wrong-Way Driver Arrested on I-271

Suspect is second to be arrested for drunken wrong-way driving on 271

A woman arrested and charged with drunken driving is the second in two weeks whom police say they caught driving south on northbound I-271.

On April 29, after an officer said he spotted him driving the wrong way in the northbound express lanes.

And on May 13, Beachwood Police responded to I-271 after someone called to report that a car was driving the south in the northbound lanes near the Chagrin Boulevard exit.

The incident occurred at around 6 a.m.

They found the car on the highway just south of Beachwood, broken down. A woman was inside.

They arrested the driver for drunken driving.

Police Chief Mark Sechrist said that there are no changes or engineering problems with the traffic flow in this area. The common factor, he added, is alcohol.
