POLICE: Drunken Motorcyclist's Trail of Bodily Fluids Ends in Jail

Police say suspect's BAC was nearly three times the legal limit

A Maple Heights man, with a blood alcohol content of almost three times the legal limit, was arrested in Beachwood after police said he tried to get on a motorcycle and tipped it.

Beachwood Police spotted John Mathews’ failed attempt to mount the bike just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 19 at the and stopped to talk to him.

Mathews, 26, was drunk, said police, and was in violation of helmet laws and his novice motorcycle license restrictions.

They placed him under arrest, but the charges didn’t stop there: Mathews was accused of spitting in the rear of the police car, the jail booking area, and the holding cell; and urinating on the holding cell floor.

He was charged with drunken driving, violating motorcycle license restrictions and disorderly conduct.

He posted a $10,000 bond Monday, Aug. 21.
