Mentor Man Admits To Robbing PNC Bank

Stacey Robinson is scheduled to be sentenced on January 9

Mentor man Stacey Robinson has admitted to robbing the PNC Bank in Mentor.

Robinson, 46, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery in Lake County Common Pleas Judge Joseph Gibson's court room. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 9.

Robinson faces between one and three years in prison.

The bank was robbed on Aug. 29.

Robinson entered the bank, wearing a black leather hat, striped collared shirt and dark colored pants, police said. He handed the teller a note, demanding money.

He never showed a weapon, police said. After Robinson was given money, he fled from the bank on foot.

However, witnesses recognized Robinson as a customer at the bank, police said.

Consequently, police staked out around the area where Robinson lived and arrested him soon thereafter.

This was the second bank robbery to happen in Mentor this year and the sixth in two years.

The first this year happened at the Dollar Bank in July. It is the only one of the six bank robberies to happen in Mentor in the last two years where a suspect has not been arrested and convicted thereafter.

Hmmm, isn't that pretty much across the street from Dollar Bank? It was robbed in July and there hasn't been an arrest...a coincidence?
