Man Robs Bank With Pen: Burglars Target Frozen Turkeys: Best of the Blotter

Here are some of the weirdest police reports and incidents from departments across the region.

Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Bank robber proves pen is mightier than gun

Steven C. Dagostine, 43, of Tallmadge, was charged Feb. 26 with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in connection with a Huntington Bank heist in Cuyahoga Falls.

Fortunately, police did not have to track him down as Dagostine was already being held in Summit County Jail on a separate robbery charge.

On Feb. 24, Dagostine allegedly walked into the Giant Eagle-Huntington Bank, handed the teller a note demanding money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to Cuyahoga Falls police, he claimed to have a gun, but was reportedly unarmed.

Turkey burglars

Westlake Police are looking for the thief (or thieves) who broke into a home on Hollywood Drive on Feb. 16 and stole jewelry and two frozen turkeys.

Neighbors told police that they saw an unfamiliar red Ford F-150 pickup truck in the driveway that afternoon.

Residents said the man and a woman who were in that truck went up to two homes in the neighborhood. At different times, they claimed to be looking for old Army buddies or a sister, police said.

Rolling in style

A clerk at Circle K on Pearl Road told Strongsville police a woman came in about 3 a.m. Feb. 23 and gave her a hard time about not having a public restroom.

A man then joined her in the gas station with an open container of alcohol and started rolling a joint, a report said.

Both left in a limo-type car that did not have a front license plate.

Watch your step

At about noon on Feb. 21, a woman fell into a partially open manhole in the 24600 block of Chagrin Boulevard.

Beachwood firefighters took her to South Pointe Hospital where she received medical treatment.

Lost drunkard

A drunken wanderer caused concern among residents on two streets on Feb. 24, according to a Strongsville police report.

An Applewood Lane resident called police about a man walking around the common area.

About five minutes later, someone on Abigail Lane reported a man wearing a baseball cap in a back yard, just staring at a house.

Officers called in a police dog and found the man stumbling down Winding Trail. He told officers he was lost, but they didn't buy it.

He was cited for disorderly conduct.
