Man receives mall ban

Thursday, December 20, 4:23 p.m. — Employees at Next in Beachwood Place Mall called police for stealing an unspecified amount of items from the store. The store declined to prosecute the man, but he received a lifetime ban from the clothing retailer. He is also banned from the mall for a year.

Theft at Dillard's

Thursday, December 20, 12:41 p.m. — Police arrested a woman at Dillard's in Beachwood Place Mall for shoplifting $343.98 worth of merchandise.

Man restrains doctor at Ahuja

Thursday, December 20, 10 a.m. — Several officers responded to Ahuja Medical Center after a man attempted to abduct a doctor. According to the police report, the man was dissatisfied with the care he had received. He restrained a doctor in an exam room for several minutes and did not allow other staff members into the room. At one point, the patient threatened to slap the doctor. Police arrested him once he exited the exam room.

Thefts reported at Beachwood Place

Wednesday, December 19, 8:30 p.m. — A woman was arrested at Saks Fifth Avenue in Beacwhood Place Mall for stealing $467 worth of merchandise. She was charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property. Less than an hour later, police arrested another woman in Dillard's

Man harasses hotel clerks

Wednesday, December 19, 5:29 a.m. — Police received multiple calls from hotel clerks in the area. The callers said a man had entered their lobby to demand a discounted room. According to the police report, the man began harassing clerks when they refused discounts.
