Here are this week's most bizarre police calls, reports and charges. All information was provided by police reports from departments in Patch communities. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Man Receives Weapons by Mail: Lakewood Patch

A man in the 1100 block of West Forest Road told police that he received a “weapon in the mail” on May 31. Turns out that the package, containing a BB gun, was sent to the wrong address. The man told police that he’d have UPS return the package to the sender in Minnesota. 

Raised by Wolves: Strongsville Patch

A panhandler raised eyebrows May 30 when he stood at Royalton and Howe roads with a sign that said, "Raised by wolves, homeless, need help."

Police spoke with the man, who said he was trying to get to California. An officer warned him about Strongsville's solicitation laws and pointed him in the right direction, a report said.

The man said the sign was to make people smile.

Police Help Four-Legged Friend: Avon-Avon Lake Patch

Avon Police took a different tact after finding an injured turtle on Detroit Road last week. 

On June 1, a caller reported a turtle in the roadway north of Detroit. The police took moved the injured turtle out of the roadway and placed it in a container before taking it to the Lake Erie Nature Center in Bay Village for treatment.
