Car Crashes Injure Five, Erratic Driver Had 'Green Leafy Substance'

Three Injured, Bank Sign Damaged
June 14, three people were hurt in a crash at the intersection of Chagrin and Green roads.
At about 2 p.m., John Schenkelberg, 60, of Kirtland, was headed north on Green Road and police said he went through a red light, colliding with a car driven by Alphonso Miller, 68, of Shaker Heights. Miller was going west on Chagrin Boulevard and the collision forced his car off the road and into the First Merit Bank sign.

Schenkelberg was cited for going through a red traffic light, according to the police report.
Both drivers and a passenger were hurt and were taken to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Both Claimed a Green Light
One driver was hurt in a two-car crash on Cedar Road near the southbound entrance to Route 271 Saturday June 15 at about 12:30 a.m.
Both the 19-year-old Strongsville driver and the 24-year-old Eastlake driver told police they had a green light to turn onto the on ramp.
Both drivers told police they had possible injuries. The Eastlake woman was taken to the hospital via ambulance.
Marijuana and Alcohol + Driving = Arrest
Just before 3 p.m. Saturday June 15, Beachwood Police pulled over a driver for erratic driving on Green Road near the pump station. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence, weaving in traffic, possessing an open container of alcohol in the car and for possession of marijuana. Police confiscated the open containers and a "green leafy substance."
The car was impounded.
