Fake Checks and Lots of Teenage Shoplifters: Beachwood Police Blotter

Fake Checks

Two women were arrested at Beachwood Place at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday July 9 and were charged with forgery, fraud and receiving stolen property. Police said they were using counterfeit checks to buy items in the mall. The women told police they had also been shopping in Summit and Geauga counties. Police confiscated cash, blank business checks and some Target gift cards from the women after they were arrested.

  • A teenage boy was caught trying to take four pair of sunglasses and a pair of shoes from Journeys in Beachwood Place Monday July 8 at 7:40 p.m. Three of the sunglasses were Ray Bans, the fourth pair had the Ohio State logo on them. The value of the items taken was $373.94.
  • A teen was charged with shoplifting for trying to steal a pair of $14.50 earrings from Claire’s in Beachwood Place at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday July 9.
  • A teenage girl was caught trying to take $37 of items from Claire’s in Beachwood Place at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday July 9. She tried to take a pair of black and red “Loser” glasses, a ring, a sparkly bracelet and a pink and silver bracelet.
  • A teenage girl was caught trying to take 15 pair of earrings worth $39.50 from Claire’s in Beachwood Place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.
  • A teenage boy was charged with shoplifting after trying to take three men’s short-sleeved shirts from Dillard’s in Beachwood Place at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday July 8.
  • Two teenage girls were caught trying to take three iPhone cases and a necklace worth  $52.50 from Claires in Beachwood Place at 4:30 p.m. Thursday July 11. They were charged with shoplifting and receiving stolen property because they admitted to also taking clothing from H&M the same day. 

Man Wears Stolen Items

A man was arrested for trying to take a $300 belt and $400 sunglasses at July 6 at 5:30 p.m. from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beachwood Place. He wore one of the items out of the store.
