Beachwood Police Net Four Holiday Drunken Drivers

Holiday weekend yields 20 tickets, nine crashes; Highway Patrol issues 250 tickets in area

Beachwood Police charged four with drunken driving over the holiday weekend, they said.

Police dispatcher Joel Edelstein could not say whether this is typical for a holiday weekend.

Nine traffic tickets were issued and police responded to 20 car crashes, Edelstein added.

Sgt. Raymond Durant of the Cuyahoga County post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, which patrols Interstate 271 and parts of Interstate 90 during daytime and peak traffic hours, said officers issued 250 traffic tickets and 29 seat belt violation citations. The Patrol did not make any drunken driving arrests, he added.
