UPDATED: Beachwood Police Assist Orange Village PD in Shooting

Beachwood Police helped respond to a shooting in Orange Village this morning.

Beachwood Police have confirmed assisting the Orange Village Police Department this morning in a hotel shooting.

Fox 8 reported that a gunman opened fire at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel on Orange Place. A WKYC report indicates that a woman was struck.

Though Beachwood Police confirmed aiding an arrest, the department referred any further questions to Orange Village Police Chief Christopher Kostura. A message for Kostura has not yet been returned.

The Fox report states that dozens of officers searched for the gunman, who was found after running behind the Fairfield Inn. Reports state that some hotels on Orange Place are under lockdown, but a supervisor at Fairfield Inn said that hotel is not one of them.

11:50 a.m. - Courtyard Marriott General Manager Richard Somsak gave Fox 8 the following statement statement Thursday morning:

We can confirm there was an incident earlier this morning involving police activity at the hotel.  As soon as we were made aware of the situation we contacted the local authorities.  The police responded right away.  The police have reported they have apprehended the suspect and that they believe this to be an isolated incident.  The victim was not a registered guest of the hotel.  The safety and security of our guests and employees is a top priority.  The hotel is open and operating business as usual.  The police are currently investigating the matter and we will continue to assist and cooperate with their investigation.

Officials at the hotel would not comment on whether the hotel is on lockdown.

What is wrong with you people....why wouldn't you keep your guests safe and informed?
