Beachwood Officer Shoots Wanted Suspect During Search

Our partners at WEWS News Channel 5 report the the man was wanted on a domestic violence warrant.

A wanted suspect was shot Sunday morning by a police officer during a search, our partners at WEWS News Channel 5 report.

At around 11 a.m. South Euclid, Lyndhurst, and Beachwood Police were searching an apartment on Richmond Road for a suspect wanted on a domestic violence warrant. 

Police said the wanted suspect was hiding in a bedroom, when the suspect confronted the Beachwood police officer. The officer shot the suspect once.

The suspect was handcuffed and then transported to a medical facility to be treated for non-life threatening injures, police said.

Officers said the suspect, whose name was not released, is now in the custody of the South Euclid Police Department.
