Beachwood Man Pleads Guilty to 450-Home Mortgage Fraud

Uri Gofman will be sentenced Feb. 1

A Beachwood man pleaded guilty to a mortgage fraud involving $44 million in fraudulent loans that the Cuyahoga County prosecutor calls one of the largest in the country.

Uri Gofman, 39, pleaded guilty to 11 counts, one count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, one count of theft, two counts of money laundering, one count of telecommunications fraud, and six counts of tampering with records.

He will be sentenced to 8 years, three months in prison, according to a press release from the prosecutor.
