is one of only six Ohio departments accredited by the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI).
Mayor Merle Gorden, Fire Chief Patrick Kearns, Assistant Fire Chief William Peskura and Fire Lieutenant Anthony Strazzo traveled to Denver earlier this month to accept the award, which is under the umbrella of the Center for Public Safety Excellence.
“It verifies and validates that their fire department and their municipality are performing to what are nationally-recognized standards,” said Strazzo. “It really validates the performance and the high level of service that the city of Beachwood provides for its residents.”
“Public safety is very important in Beachwood,” Gorden said. “This agency reaccreditation validates to the community that our fire department is held in very high regard nationally. All of Beachwood should be proud.”
