11 heroin needles found on shoplifter

Sunday, May 1, 4:36 p.m. – Police found 11 needles for heroin injection and a crack pipe on a woman they had arrested for stealing five bottles of perfume worth $284 from at the Beachwood Place Mall. She was charged with shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of narcotics equipment.

Phone scam: Send $300,000 to bail out grandson

Wednesday, May 5, 10:46 a.m. – A woman reported a phone scam: she had received a phone call from someone saying that her grandson was in jail and that she needed to send $300,000 to bail him out. Police could not say whether money was sent.

Friday, May 6, 5:19 a.m. – Two people, a female hotel guest at the and a man, went into someone’s car in the parking lot of the hotel without permission. They did not know the owner of the car. The woman left her cellphone by accident and locked the doors when she got out. She called police to report the phone stolen. She was arrested and charged for making a false report and trespassing. The man was gone when police arrived.

Man spotted sleeping in tent in City Park

Friday, May 6, 9:17 a.m. – Someone reported to police that they saw a man sleeping in a tent in City Park near Shaker Boulevard and Sulgrave Road. Officers found the tent in the park but nothing was left inside. They took the tent to the property room. On Saturday afternoon, a man came to the looking for his tent and police told him to leave or be arrested. Police could not say whether it was the same man.

Woman: Driver “made fun of” me

Friday, May 6, 9:46 a.m. – A woman called police while driving because a man in another car was making fun of her, honking his horn and blocking the road with his car at the stoplight at Green Road and Chagrin Boulevard. The woman followed the man until officers arrived but no charges were filed.

$100,000 of jewelry stolen in home burglary

Monday, May 9, 5:07 p.m. – A burglary was reported in which $100,000 of jewelry was stolen from a home at the 25000 block of Twickenham Drive. Someone broke the glass of the first floor back door and entered the home. No further information was available.
